The Challenge
Bytewood was commissioned to create a virtual and interactive tour that powerfully conveys to visitors just how essential sharks are to the underwater ecosystem. The tour not only showcases the importance of these fascinating animals but also illustrates the drastic consequences their extinction would have on the balance of marine life. Through the use of interactive elements and visual representations, an immersive experience was created that actively engages visitors and makes complex relationships understandable. The goal was to develop an innovative solution that imparts knowledge while simultaneously raising awareness for the protection of sharks and the entire underwater world.
Our Solution
Using state-of-the-art VR technology, we developed an immersive underwater world that allowed visitors to dive directly into the depths of the ocean using VR headsets. Based on the Unreal Engine, we created a highly realistic simulation that, through scripted animations and sequences, impressively depicted the cruel practice of shark fishing and the resulting destruction of the marine ecosystem. The underwater simulation was specifically designed for the HTC Vive and optimized for use at trade fairs. Thanks to the interactive controls, visitors could take photos of their virtual dive. These photos could then be sent via email or printed on-site. The project combined impressive visuals with a profound message, raising awareness among visitors about the importance of shark conservation and the fragility of the underwater world.
